(Question)
Can you please tell me more about Minix?
(Answer)
Minix is a free and open source UNIX-like operating system (OS) written by Andrew S. Tanenbaum. It is based on a micro-kernel architecture. The OS was primarily written for educational purposes.
Minix also inspired the creation of the Linux kernel. Its name derives from words minimal and UNIX. This UNIX clone is especially well suited for low-end, resources-constrained systems and embedded applications. Minix 3 was announced in October 2005 and the current stablerelease is 3.1.2a. The OS is released under BSD license. To download it, you can visit www.minix3.org/download/
